We went to see the land thinking we'd never be able to settle in such a quiet residential area, but we were very surprised to discover that this place is located right next to the beautiful Inokashira park, literally steps away from one of the park's entrances near the pond. We all agreed: the place was idyllic! We already pictured ourselves living there, enjoying evening strolls in the park or morning energy walks around the pond, and late afternoon barbecues. Our kids envisioned pets. The Jewelry Atelier I was hoping to open could become a reality, my husband could perhaps finally get a soundroom... But enough dreaming! What does this piece of heaven cost and can we afford to build a house on it? That would be for us to discover over the next few days....

I came to your blog through Eric's blog-- and really enjoyed reading about your house building endeavors. We also live in the neighborhood (my Japanese husband, daughter (8) and son (4)-- I am from the U.S.) We bought a house in the Mure area near 5 shogakko about 5 years ago. Hope to run into you in the neighborhood some time in the near future (I have lived in the Kichijoji area for 15 years!). Also, I organize a gathering of bi-cultural/international families meeting on the second sunday of each month. We are gathering at Nishien this sunday if you are free.

Great to hear from another foreigner in Mitaka!We're a bit overwhelmed by this project, as there are so many details to decide on... But we're looking forward to moving to Inokashira. We've been in Kichijoji for 11 years, after 9 years in Fuchu, near ASIJ. What a drastic change! We love this neighborhood!
It would be lovely to meet other international families in the area so please let us know the details about the meetings in Nishien. We'd like to come over to greet you!
